Ohio Rough Truck Invitational
COSHOCTON – Wednesday night’s rough truck competition at the Guernsey County Fairgrounds in Old Washington attracted an excited crowd, with much at stake for two Coshocton drivers, Dustin Jenkins (leading) and Cheavis Webb (fourth). Both compete across county fair circuits as well as monster truck promoters across Ohio. Last year, due to pandemic cancellation, this competition featured modified trucks designed to go as fast as possible over dirt jumps and tight turns.
Rough truck racing is an alternative form of motorsport where better isn’t always better. Drivers typically utilize vehicles they own at home for competition purposes, and some even race their daily transporter in races for cash prizes and cash back. Though it is expensive to keep up with competitors on the track, rough truck competition is popular among local fans and part of evening grandstand entertainment for free admission.
Nick Anderson doesn’t keep track of how many hours are put into preparing his rough truck for competition, having begun competing approximately eight years ago and now competing at up to three events each week. Anderson co-owns Central Ohio Tire on Newark Road in Zanesville with his father and finds enjoyment in meeting people through competition, plus being able to interact with young spectators during events like Touch a Truck, where children get up-close looks at emergency response vehicles as well as monster trucks.

Nick Duggan announced its closure via his Facebook page, alleging that San Luis Obispo County officials forced it by insisting that he comply with new limits placed upon his contract with promoters and with a change approved to his license in November.
He claimed he consulted all relevant parties and made every attempt to comply with requests made by both the County and Costa Pacifica Estates homeowners association, although county officials disproved his claims and insisted they had not forced the facility’s shutdown.
