The Best Sweet Shops in Austin

Whether you want to satisfy that sweet tooth or find something fun for your kids, Austin has some of the best dessert shops.

For a sweet twist, check out Bananarchy, a food truck that serves frozen bananas with your choice of dips and toppings. They also offer ice cream taco DIY kits and tons of shaved ice flavors.

1. Bananarchy

Bananarchy is Austin’s only frozen banana stand. Inspired by the iconic show Arrested Development, this place takes you back to childhood with various bananas and dips (chocolate, peanut butter, and vanilla).

Banana whips are made without added sugar and come in toppings like vegan chocolate sauce, chocolate chips, vegan marshmallows, and coconut milk whipped cream. The couple also has a sprinkle of kindness campaign where customers pay an extra 50 cents to add sprinkles, and the money is donated to different international food charities.

This dairy-free ice cream has coconut milk and the highest quality ingredients. The ice cream is creamy and delicious, with flavors like Chocolate Cherry Fudge Brownie, Lotta Mint Chip, and Strawberry Cheesecake.

2. Little Lucy’s Mini Donuts

Little Lucy’s Mini Donuts is a colorful late-night food truck serving many tasty treats. This pink food truck is a must-visit if you have time for a post-work snack or are out and about in the neighborhood.

This shop is an excellent choice for a coffee and donut fix and has a cool name (and a great location in the Mellow Johnny’s bike shop). If you’re lucky enough to live within walking distance, you’ll be rewarded with a large selection of donuts in various flavors ranging from pistachio to bourbon.

You can order Little Lucy’s a la carte and deliver it to your door or have them cater a lunch meeting. They also have a slick mobile app, a great way to order. The best thing is they have several unique and creative flavors you won’t find anywhere else in town!

3. Cold Cookie Company

Cold Cookie Company is a must-try if you’re looking for a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth! This retro candy-colored truck specializes in customized cookie ice cream sandwiches.

The menu offers a selection of classic cookie choices along with six ice cream flavors and various toppings. The ice cream is sourced from local favorite Austin Scoops, and the cookies are made in-house by owner Ryan Windwillow.

While the business was launched relatively quickly, it’s already showing promise to become a West Campus staple. Marsden and Windwillow plan to keep the menu consistent and add seasonal specials, including a coffee cookie option and more specialty milkshakes. They’re also open to tweaking the menu for ease of use and efficiency. Show your love for this business by using Fivestars to find the best deals and promotions on ice cream, cookies, and other items!

4. Delysia Chocolatier

If you’re a fan of chocolate, you’ll love Delysia Chocolatier. The company specializes in handmade truffles made from high-quality, sustainable chocolate. Plus, their unique and innovative flavors are hard to resist.

Patel says Austin’s eccentricity and creativity inspire her, so she focuses on creating various specialty chocolate collections that capture the city’s spirit. She’s also a proponent of preservative-free and environmentally friendly sourcing, so you can be sure the treats are delicious.

To order truffles from Delysia, stop by their culinary center on West 7th Street or call them. They’re open Tuesday through Sunday. They also sell Texas Chewie pecan pralines and other candy goodies, including the historic Lamme’s Candies, which have existed since 1885.

5. Sips & Sweets Cafe

Sips & Sweets Cafe is a coffee shop and bakery that serves all-day coffee, global wines, and sweet pastries. Located inside Kendra Scott Jewelry at Market Street, this oh-so-chic cafe is a must-stop when visiting Austin.

Situated a couple of shops down from the main store, this new addition is the perfect place to stop when you want a cup of coffee or pastry to enjoy with your shopping. It’s also a great spot to meet friends for happy hour, weekend bites, or an afternoon pick-me-up.

Krista Brazel and Carla Biggs opened Sips & Sweets Cafe nearly a year ago. Both women lost their jobs due to the pandemic in 2020 and harnessed their entrepreneurial spirit.
