Xiaomi 9a Review

If you’re looking for a budget phone, the Xiaomi 9a is an excellent choice. It offers all the basics, a good battery life, and a decent processor.

The Redmi 9a has a 6.53-inch HD+ IPS LCD with 269 PPI resolution. It’s not the best display at this price point, but it is enough to handle everyday tasks and demanding games.

Camera

The camera on the Xiaomi 9a is decent for a budget smartphone but not quite as good as some of its higher-priced competitors. It’s not as sharp or bright in low light, and the autofocus is not great.

Its camera app’s default settings aren’t always great for taking great photos, but if you take the time to tweak it, you can get very nice results.

The 13-megapixel rear camera produces images with excellent detail and accurate color reproduction in daylight. However, the quality isn’t as good in low-light conditions, and HDR processing isn’t as smooth.

Battery

The 5000 mAh battery on board the Xiaomi 9a is big enough to last a day of moderate use. The screen on-time is also very impressive, with the phone delivering 7 to 8 hours of SoT with average usage.

The device is powered by a 2.0GHz Octa-Core MediaTek Helio G25 processor and 2GB of RAM. It has 32GB of internal storage that is expandable via a microSD card.

Performance

The Xiaomi 9a is a great entry-level smartphone with many features you don’t usually find at this price. It has a large screen, battery, and headphone jack.

It’s a decent camera, with a 13MP rear camera that takes excellent daytime photos and a 5MP front camera. The front-facing camera also has AI beautify, which makes it easier to take nicer selfies.

The Redmi 9A is powered by a MediaTek Helio G25 processor with HyperEngine technology for smooth application performance. The 12nm FinFET CPU is also power efficient and helps save on battery life.

Design

The Xiaomi 9a looks similar to the Redmi 8A and comes in various colors. The rear panel has a ridged texture that gives the device some added grip and helps prevent fingerprints.

The phone has a 6.53-inch display and a 5000mAh battery. It also comes with an octa-core processor and AI-powered front and rear cameras.

The phone also has a dual-SIM card tray and a Micro SD slot for extra storage. It runs on Android 10 out of the box with MIUI 12 on top.

Price

Its sub-$100 price tag makes it a beautiful entry-level smartphone, especially for those upgrading from a feature phone. It’s also great for those in developing countries where a high-end device may be out of reach.

This barebones smartphone works well for the call, text, browsing, and social media apps. It has a big screen, a headphone jack, and reasonably decent cameras.

The primary camera on the Redmi 9a is a 13MP sensor with a flash. It also features kaleidoscope mode and AI Beautify, which turn your photos into colorful gems.
